Faux Paracord Wrap Bracelets: Free Crochet Pattern

image (c) Ruth Windover
I have at least half a dozen (probably more like a couple of dozen πŸ˜•) unfinished, half-finished or un-started (is that a word?) projects sitting in my "working" basket.

I looked at them this week but so many of the projects are on "time out" or have patterns that are half written that I decided I would start something new and quick that I have been thinking about: crochet bracelets.

I saw some pretty ones around the virtual world and thought, 'Hey, I could make myself some of those!'

And so I did.

And then I made one for Hunny.  And then another to add to her friends birthday present.  And then a few dozen more 'cause they were pretty.  And then another for Hoss in "a manly colour" because he thought they looked cool too! 😊

And of course, the very first time Hoss wore his he got a compliment!!  And then, when asked where he got it, instead of advertising for Red Mitten Designs he responds "my wife made it."  Grrrr!  Ha Ha!!  Oh well, they look fantastic so I decided I'd share the pattern with you . . .

*Special Note:
If you are a local and would like to custom order a handmade bracelet (or toque, mittens, washcloths, teddy bears, . . . :) feel free to check out my Facebook Page

On to the pattern!!!

Faux Paracord Wrap Bracelet
       ~by Ruth Windover

craft:
crochet

skill level:
beginner

size:
determined by wrist measurement and desired number of wraps

gauge:
not too important as the size will be determined by your wrist measurement

materials:
  • 3.75 mm hook
  • tapestry needle
  • measuring tape
  • Bernat handicrafter in desired colour, approx. 5 - 30 yards (this will depend on the size made)
  • 3/4 inch button (or size to fit through loop)

abbreviations:
Ch - chain
SC - single crochet
St/ st - stitch

pattern:
measure around your wrist to determine the length of the chain needed.

If you are creating a single wrap use the size you measured, if a double wrap multiple the number by 2, if a triple wrap multiple the number by 3.

So, measure your wrist and make it "a" then decide how many times you would like it to wrap around your wrist and make that "b."  Your calculation will then be: "a" x "b" = "c"

Example ladies small (7 inch wrist):

  • single wrap:  7 x 1 = 7 inches
  • double wrap:  7 x 2 = 14 inches
  • triple wrap:  7 x 3 = 21 inches

Create a chain that measures the desired length (single, double or triple wrap) plus approximately 1/4 inch.  Then add an additional 5 chains.

Row 1:  sc into 6th chain from hook.  sc in each stitch across.

Bind off.

Weave in ends adding a button (that fits through the button loop πŸ˜„) to the end opposite the loop. (I recommend using the tails to attach the button and make it secure)

Wrap it around your wrist and POOF you're done!  Unless, of course, you get addicted and have to make 10 50 more . . . .
