Christmas Toilet Paper Cozy

Toilet paper. It's one of those things that everyone uses. Well . . . I guess not everyone. There is this thing I was reading about the other night called "Family Cloths."

*shrug*

I dunno, I'm all on-board for cloth baby wipes and cleaning rags but have yet to be sold on the idea of reusable cloth toilet paper . . . that you wash . . . in your washing machine . . .

*again . . . shrug*

I digress! Toilet paper! It's a novel invention. It's useful, convenient and practical. However, it's not the fanciest thing out there.

Remember when toilet paper "cozies" were a big thing? Are they still?? I remember my mother having several during the late 80's / early 90's. Was that the end of them?

Anyway, I need a unique and cute Teacher/Bus Driver/Mother-in-Law/Hostess/you name it, gift that is quick and is one size fits most (toilet paper rolls that is)

So, here is the pattern for the Christmas Toilet Paper Cozy!!  On to the pattern!!

check to make sure that the circle is approximately the same size as the top of the toilet paper roll.  If you are using a different size toilet paper roll add more rounds in the above adding format or remove rounds as required.

Rnd 5:  DC in blo only of each st around (40)
Rnd 6:  DC (in both loops) in each st around (40)

Repeat round 6 for five more rounds, or until the cover, when on the roll, is approximately the same height as the roll.  Bind off.

Attach Bernat Pipsqueak and sc in each st around (40)

Bind off.  Weave in ends.

Make PomPom using pompom maker or favourite method of creating a pom (or just buy a store bought pom, some days it's just easier . . . kinda like toilet paper :)

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you are making your pompom using the Tinsel yarn, I would suggest making it in a location where you wont have to pick up the little, clingy, annoying fibers that will be left over.  You know, like maybe on the moon or something.  After sober-second-thought I perhaps should have selected a different yarn for the pompom, but it looked so pretty finished that I had to use it.  *Best of luck if you too make the effort!*

As always, thanks for crafting using a Red Mitten Designs pattern.  Don't forget to check out the other cool Christmas crafts available on the "Allfree" sites, including allfreecrochet.com!

In case I don't find time to finish any more patterns before Christmas, which is altogether a possibility with three children, a new house, Christmas, parties, a husband, life,  . . . you get the idea!  Anyway,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  1. I found this pattern on All Free Crochet. It is just the thing for some "love" gifts for this Christmas. I was gifted several skeins of Caron Christmas Glitter yarn in both red and green. I plan to make many of them for friends and family.
