Earlier this summer YarnCanada.ca contacted me to do a yarn review and give Lion Brands "Go For Faux" yarn a try.  Of course, I said "YES!!"

Who doesn't love the idea of testing out yarn that is described on the Lion Brand official site as follows:

"No animals were harmed in the spinning of this soft, feels like the real thing
100% Polyester fur yarn. Fur is trending and Go for Faux will be your go to
yarn for luxurious accessories, home Dec items and trims
on your favorite fashion items. It is a CYC 6 but lightweight with ample
yardage: 64 yards per 100 grams. It comes in 4 realistic fur shades and
two ice pastels. You will want to create something in every color
of Go for Faux which won’t hurt your wallet or your conscience"

That is a yarn description that I can get behind!! 💕

Yarn Review

When the yarn arrived on my doorstep I couldn't wait to open it!  And when I did, I found that I couldn't stop touching it.  I spent a solid week just feeling-up this yarn every time I walked past it!!  I spent so much time snuggling the yarn that I had trouble getting on with the creative process.

Originally I had planned to use an existing Go for Faux pattern but when I jumped on my favourite pattern search engines (aka: Pinterest and allfreecrochet.com) I could't find anything that I absolutely wanted to make.  And of course, by then, the design juices were flowing and I knew I was going to end up writing a pattern for this gorgeous yarn!

And it's lovely to work with, even with a crochet hook.  When I originally received it I completely discounted creating anything crochet with it.  As anyone who has ever crocheted with any "faux fur" or fuzzy yarn will now it is usually a beast to attempt to know where the stitches are.  After a while of looking at it though I decided I wanted to give this review a serious run and decided to try it with crochet.

The stitches are still impossible to see BUT they are remarkably easy to feel (crocheting by feel . . . why not, could even do it in the dark!!).  And the yarn is so lovely to touch that it was a win-win.

Oh, by the way, have I mentioned yet how incredibly soft and touchable this yarn is?!  Haha

When it's worked up it creates a beautiful material.  I created both a knit & a crochet test swatch and both were so soft and had a lovely drape!  As edging or an accent I believe it would add just that perfect little "pop!"

The only downside that I found to this yarn is that there are sooo many things that I would like to create and design with it that it has become a distraction from my other wips (works in progress) that are now laying dejected around the house!

Final Verdict

Seriously though, there really isn't anything I dislike about this yarn.  It is the nicest "faux fur" I have ever worked with.  I found that it did not "shed" nearly as badly as other "faux-fur" or eyelash type yarns I have used in the past.

And it is so SOFT!!!

Conclusion

Would I buy this yarn?  ABSOLUTELY!!!  It has so much potential, feels so incredible soft, works up so nicely and sparks so many ideas that I will totally buy it!!  I think it would even look great as a fur version of my ever popular "Winter Snowball" (pattern:  HERE)

Bind off and cut yarn.  Weave in ends.  Wrap ribbon around the ankle of the bootie, just below the "fur" section and secure in a bow.  Secure ribbon to bootie using a small piece of sewing or embroidery thread if desired (this helps to keep it securely on the bootie and reduce the risk of baby potentially choking on the ribbon
